Port Blair, Mar 25: The Department of Art and Culture, A&N Administration in association with South Zone Cultural Centre, GoI organized ‘Sarva Bhasha Kavi Sammelan’ on the occasion of Shaheedi Diwas on 23rd March 2012 in Andaman Club. Promising and upcoming poets of different languages i.e. Great Andamani, Nicobari, Marathi, Telugu, Tamil, Bangla, Urdu, Punjabi and Hindi namely Suresh Kumar, Sony Solomon ,BA Kishen ,Archana Harshe, Mahananda Gomasta, Renu Bala, Bedi Ram, Hemant Rao ,Asha Gupta ,Mohd Isa ,Shanti Laxmanan and Ranjan Bala presented their poems during the programme.
The programme began with the famous patriotic song “Sarfaroshi ki Tammana” sung by Mrs Ananya Karak and her group and the programme concluded with the song “mera rang de basanti chola” sung by Avinash.
Mr. G. Sajan , Assistant Director ,(Programme) DDK, Port Blair while speaking as the Chief Guest appreciated the department for conceptualizing such an innovative programme to pay tribute to the great martyrs.
Dr.Ayya Raju, ADE, Directorate of Education while addressing the gathering as the Guest of Honour inspired the young budding poets by presenting his poems. Mr. Lucas Robert, Director (Art and Culture) in his address assured the young poets that the department would provide such opportunities in future also to upcoming talents to showcase and develop their writing skills. Earlier, Dr. Rashida Iqbal, Incharge, Culture welcomed the guests and Dr.U.N.Choudhary , Assistant Director (SYA) proposed vote of thanks.
