Port Blair, Apr 22: Talking Exclusively with Andaman Sheekha the first Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. M L Kampani today said that he feels that Andaman must have an Assembly.
“Nagaland got statehood when the population was 3 lakhs, Mizirom also got statehood. I don’t see any reason, that because population is less the people shouldn’t have a democratic set up,” he said.
When asked whether Pradesh Council model was best for these Islands, Mr. Kampani said that Statehood will be better. “Pradesh congress we tried. I was treating Councillors as Ministers. It was different at that time but Assembly is more satisfying,” he added.
