Port Blair, Apr 07: A communication exercise to validate the communication plan for conduct of Parliamentary elections was held on 7th April. The DCs, Sector Magistrates and entire field staff participated in the exercise whose main aim was to test the actual availability of BSNL communication facilities on the ground as well as to fix the gaps.
The Chief Electoral Officer, A&N Islands, Smt. Rina Ray monitored the entire exercise from the State Control Room along with the CGM, BSNL. The respective DEOs and AROs were available in their respective control rooms for collection & dissemination of information.
The communication exercise was successful to the extent that BLOs and Sector Magistrates of 316 Polling Stations out of a total of 386 Polling Stations in the A&N Islands Parliamentary Constituency could be contacted either through BSNL mobiles, landlines or WLL phones in the areas where BSNL facilities were available.
