Port Blair, Mar 16: A five days hands-on training on Enzyme Linked Immuno Sorbent Assay for diagnosis of Animal Diseases was concluded on 14th March 2014 at CIARI, Port Blair. A total of six Senior Veterinary Officers from Directorate of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services participated in the training programme. During the five days training programme, ELISA for diagnosis of FMD and IBR diseases in Animals was demonstrated to the participants which was followed by hands – on training. Participants were also taught about Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and Bio safety measures to be adopted in the laboratory.
Valedictory function of the training was held on 14th March 2014. On the occasion, Director, CARI congratulated all the participants for successfully completing the training. He also urged them to make effective use of the training for developing disease diagnostic facility at their department so that mutual coordination is established for health management of livestock. He also gave away the certificates to all the participants. Dr.A.Kundu, Head, Animal Science Division also spoke on use of latest molecular tools for laboratory diagnosis of the diseases. Dr. Jai Sunder, Course Director of the training programme presented the report of the training. Trainees gave their impression and feed back of the training and requested Director, CIARI to conduct similar type of training in other areas of livestock health and production.
