Port Blair, Mar 05: The A&N Administration has initiated a dialogue for conducting exams (Nautical and Engine) under IV Act 1917, Chapter III, Section 20, at Port Blair by the Board of Examinations for Seafarers Trust (BEST), Mumbai through PO, MMD, Kolkata. The training for conduct of these exams by BEST, will be imparted at Dr B R Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Port Blair.
Board of Examinations for Seafarers Trust is a collaborative body of Institute of Marine Engineers India and Company of Master Mariners and an ISO 9001-2008 Certified Organisation, set up in 2005 to participate in activities that would assist Administration and the Industry as and when required. Further, Maharashtra Maritime Board has signed MOU with BEST for conducting Inland Vessel competency examination for different grades of Deck & Engine. Govt. of West Bengal has also entrusted the conduct of examination as per I.V. Act, to Board of Examinations for Seafarers Trust through Mercantile Marine Department, Kolkata.
All aspiring candidates desirous of obtaining IV Training and appearing in the IV Exams (Nautical and Engine) are requested to collect the application format in person from Assistant Engineer, Port Management Board during office hours on any working day or can be downloaded from the website www.and.nic.in. The applications in the prescribed format should reach the office of Chief Port Management Board, Port Management Board, Post Box 52, Port Blair-744 101, A & N Islands by 25th March 2014, a communication from the Chief Port Administrator said.
