Car Nicobar, Mar 03: The first phase of the Football Coaching concluded today at Car Nicobar. An Exhibition Match was played between the team of young trainees and the Ex- Players of Subroto Mukherjee Cup. The young team did not disappoint their Coach and played beautifully, showing the Competitive abilities they have. Both teams were 2-2 in the first half. The second half was dominated by the young trainees most of the time, but they did not capitalize the chances of converting the attempts into goals. Young trainees were playing their first ever match after the coaching. The Coach Mr. Joe Paul Ancheri was watching the match very closely and pointed out the weak areas of the players after the match. The General Secretary of the Nicobar Athletic Association Mr. Peterson Job was the Chief Guest on this occasion and he encouraged the players.
Sharing his experience of the Camp, Coach Mr. Joe Paul Ancheri told that the boys are very talented and they showed tremendous enthusiasm in learning the basics of the game in the camp. He hoped the boys would improve with the exposer of playing more games in the future.
Meanwhile the Director Sports Mr. Lucas Robert informed that there would be a 2 months long Special summer coaching camp at Port Blair. Talking about the camp he said that Intensive coaching would be given to the selected young players of the Islands. He said that apart from the players of Car Nicobar, young players from Nancowry, Hutbay and Port Blair would also get chance to attend the residential coaching camp.
Earlier talking about the concluded camp, the Education Officer Mr. H. Nathaniel said that 50 players were selected from around 100 young players of the different schools of Car Nicobar for this camp .Provision of Special diet was ensured for the players during the camp.
This was the first ever Football Coaching camp for the School Students after the Tsunami Tragedy, in which a reputed coach from main land has been engaged for the training. Mr. Nathaniel told that players of 14, 15 and 16 years of age groups were selected for the camp in order to prepare teams for the forthcoming Subroto Mukherjee Cup(under 17) for 2014 and 2015.
