Port Blair, Feb 21: The AN State Cooperative Union has today opened a free tailoring and fashion designing centre at Ongi Tirkey, Hutbay which was inaugurated by the Managing Director of ANS Cooperative Bank, Ravinder Rao in presence of the Chairman, ANSCU Kuldeep Rai Sharma. In his address Rao has stated that after taking over the charges of Chairman, ANSCU and Vice Chairman, ANS Coop Bank, not only these units have shown tremendous turnover but also people of these islands are also being benefitted in many ways through his vision. In his address Kuldeep has said that rural women are the most socio-economically oppressed class. Rural communities are under-privileged with little income. Any
work they find is low-status, menial and insecure. Their nutrition, health and education are very poor. They lack higher-level qualifications and so have difficulty in finding work. Hence he has insisted the ANSCU as Chairman to impart various training programmes at various level at various backward areas of these islands for the rural women as he sincerely wants to see every woman is financially secured and independent. Accordingly this free tailoring and fashion designing centre has been introduced by the ANSCU here. Kuldeep has further said that his aim is to train and support impoverished rural women in tailoring and fashion designing, so that they can support themselves and their families in these hard days. Kuldeep has further stated that the womenfolk need training for useful, better-paid employment to improve their families’ circumstances and this is the reason the team of ANSCU has introduced various training schemes for the womenfolk in particular and others in general throughout various parts of these islands, especially in rural areas. The PRI members, parents and general public have attended the function. Total 50 have registered themselves for this training.
