Diglipur, Jan 10: The Tamizhar Sangam, Diglipur has requested the Lt. Governor to declare Pongal as Public Holiday in Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
In a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor the President of Tamizhar Sangal Digipur said that Id-ul-milad falls on same day of 14th January 2014 as Pongal /Makar Sankranti but holiday was not declared for Pongal.
“Pongal and Makar Sankranti are celebrated with much gaiety among Tamilians and other South Indians along with other North Indians,” the President Tamizhar Sangam, Diglipur added.
