Port Blair, Mar 15: In order to protest against the drinking water curtailment and power cut resorted to by the A & N Administration at Port Blair and South Andaman areas, the CPI (M) has conducted a series of corner meetings at different parts of Port Blair town for the last three days.
On 12th March, 2012, a procession was taken out from Daiiy Farm to Junglighat in which a number of CPI (M) activists participated. Speakers in the corner meetings criticized the A & N Administration, Port Blair Municipal Council and Zllla Parishad for their failure to undertake and complete any of the driiiking water projects which were promised by them for the last several years.
CPI (M) leaders B. Chandrachoodan, Dr Gauranga Majhi, D. Lakshman Rao, SB Chatterjee, P. Baneijee and Lawrence Fernandez addressed the corner meetings. CPI (M) demanded immediate withdrawal of drinking water curtailment and power cut. The speakers in the meeting expressed concern over the fate of thousands of students who are appearing the Board Examinations and school examinations at Port Blair and rural South Andaman areas.
