Port Blair, Dec 18: A meeting of District Planning Committee for North & Middle Andaman was held on 18th December, 2013 in the conference hall of the Zilla Parishad, Lucknow North & Middle Andaman under the chairmanship of Shri K Srinivasan,
Adhyaksh, in presence of Dr. Vivek Kumar, Chief Executive Officer/Ex-Officio Secretary, Shri Sony Thomas, Up-Adhyaksh, DPC Members, officials of Zilla Parishad & Heads/Officer-in-charge of the Govt. Departments, to discuss and deliberate Draft District Plan proposals for the year 2014-15 of the Govt. Departments under A&N Administration & PRIs in the North & Middle Andaman.
The committee reviewed the department wise action taken report in the last meeting of the district planning committee and discussed the sectoral plan proposals/schemes in respect of various department i.e. Agriculture, Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, Fisheries, Shipping, PMB and Co-operation.
The Heads/Officers-in-charge of the departments briefed about their fund projections/plan schemes and physical targets for the Annual Plan 2014-15.
The committee suggested and recommended on various issues like maintenance of cold storages, kisan melas-involvment of PRIs, establishment of veterinary dispensaries, construction of fishermen shed, opening of fish landing jetty, allocation of fund to Zilla Parishad for civil works under fisheries sector as done during 2008-09 and 2009-10, concession in inter-island ticket fare for senior citizen, construction of floating jetty on priority basis in time bound manner, increase in reservation of inter island boat tickets for patients, provision of building construction for DRCS in North & Middle Andaman, implementation of tehsil wise registration of co-operative societies etc.
