Port Blair, Dec 12: An awareness programme on De-addiction and Alcoholism” was held at CARI, Port Blair in collaboration with Directorate of Health Services (State Health Education Bureau), A&N Administration. Dr. M.K. Mahato, CMO, G.B. Pant Hospital spoke on the occasion stressing on the adverse effect of alcoholism and drug and their abuse on the health of addicted personals and how the addiction disrupts the welfare of family and social system. He also answered all the question raised by the participants aptly. He also detailed regarding how to get rid of the habit gradually and urged women to play an important role in the family system to reduce the alcoholism and to revert the addiction. Dr.D.R.Singh, Director (1/c), CARI thanked the Director, DHS for deputing Dr.M.K.Mahato and also urged the staff to take steps to quit the habit of alcoholism for the benefit of personal health and family welfare.
