Port Blair, 29th Nov: Coast Guard Wives Welfare Association (PB), Tatrakshika, celebrated its 20th Anniversary on 29 Nov 2013 with much fanfare under the able guidance of Mrs. Jyothi Murthy, President Tatrakshika (A&N).
The day is organized every year on 29 Nov to commemorate the formation of the organization. To mark the occasion, a day at sea with Tatrakshika members was organised onboard ICGS Varad. 120 ladies alongwith CGWWA officer bearers participated in the event.
Variety of games and entertainment programmes were organized onboard during the harbour cruise. Speaking on the occasion, Mrs. Jyothi Murthy reminded all Tatrakshikas the glorious history of CGWWA and the efforts undertaken by the ladies in assuming different roles and responsibilities in society, working together cohesively to improve the quality of life. She also thanked all the officers and staff of all the units for their unstinted support in all endeavors of CGWWA.
On the occasion of Tatrakshika Day, Inspector General VSR Murthy, PTM, TM, Commander Coast Guard Region (A&N) in his message also lauded the welfare efforts undertaken by the Tatrakshikas in social upliftment and personality development of Coast Guard Wives. He particularly highlighted the role played by Tatrakshika in harnessing the talents and skills of ladies through conduct of various vocational trainings and educational schemes in order to empower them and make them strong, independent and successful individuals.
