Port Blair, November 19: Lt Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) A. K. Singh today inspected the up-graded fitness-cum-conditioning hall and Billiards room at Netaji Sports Complex. Installed during 1995, the fitness-cum-conditioning hall has been up-graded on the directions of the Lt Governor with new and modern fitness equipments including steam bath and sauna bath facilities. The stream bath has already been in operation while sauna bath will start shortly. Used by the Britishers during 1920, the Billiards board was lying unused for several years. The same has now been renovated by local carpenters into a beautifully designed new Billiards board.
While complimenting the efforts of the Department of Sports, the Lt Governor observed that the up-graded sports facilities should be available to all so that more and more people, younger generation in particular can get chance to use the facilities. He further underscored the need for proper upkeep and maintenance of the sports facilities.
