Port Blair, Oct 21: State BJP President Mr. Vishal Jolly, Vice President Mr. Prakash Adhikari and former President Mr. R.Mohan met the Deputy Commissioner (SA) today in his chamber and placed before him some burning issues concerning the people.
The major demand included stopping of encroachment eviction drive and to ensure that no new encroachment takes place. Mr. Vishalji had informed the Deputy Commissioner that majority of the encroachment belong to the present generation of Settler Community and Local people who did not get any land from the administration as on date, and they have no other place to go. Apart from this many encroachments are of people of Tamil, Telugu, Ranchi, Malayalee and Bengali community people who had been part of the developmental process of these islands for the past more than thirty years. BJP delegation also demanded allotting land to the present generation of Local and settler people who ate landless.
During the last NDA period excess land of many people were regularised. State BJP had demanded to continue the process and regularise the left out cases in Port Blair area, and to take up the cases of rural area in a time bound manner.
DC (SA) gave a patient hearing and ensured that due consideration will be given to their demand and no arbitrary action will be taken from the part of District administration.
