Port Blair, Oct 14: PS Aberdeen Police have arrested 10 persons from a gambling den at Junglighat Fish market on 11th October and seized Rs. 28895/- of gambling money from them.
Acting on a tip off, the Anti-Burglary Squad of PS Aberdeen comprising of ASI M. Abdul Rasheed, HCs Sanjay Kujur, P.M. Manoj Kumar & V. Raja and PCs Ashish Mallick, Mohd. Imran, Rakesh Toppo and M. Raja Rao raided the gambling den on Friday afternoon and arrested 10 persons namely B. Eswar Rao (32), r/o Junglighat, S. Tata Rao (35) r/o Prem Nagar near Kali Temple, G. Janaki Rao (41) r/o Dairy Farm, Y. Damodhar (32) r/o Junglighat, Eswar Rao (26), r/o Junglighat, V. Jagannath (32) r/o Junglighat, B. Rekka Rao (48), r/o Junglighat, T. Rama Rao (38) r/o Junglighat, P. Madhav Rao (34) r/o Junglighat & D. Eswar Rao (42) r/o. Prem Nagar near Kali Temple from the den. They were booked under the A&N Gambling Regulation.
In another crackdown on sale of illicit liquor in the city the team arrested 07 bootleggers and seized 257.800 kgs. of illicit Handia kept in 48 nos. of aluminum degchies from School Line, Ranchi Basti and Dairy Farm areas. The bootleggers namely Champa Uraon (58), Biru Sahu (60), Munnu Sahu (41), Rangiya Katchap (30), Silveena Lakram (37), Narmi Aind (26), Suman Munda (60), Agitha Kerketta (33) and Christina Ekka (60) were arrested under Excise Regulation.
Police is keeping strict vigil over anti-social and illegal activities.
