Port Blair, Oct 08: ANC undertook a series of adventure activities and outbound exercises to expose all Components to these beautiful islands and its environment were also undertaken by the components.
An adventure expedition to Mount Harriet was conducted by the Army Component on 03 Oct 13. A team of two officers, two JCOs and fifteen Other Ranks participated, and hoisted the tri-colour on the highest peak in South Andaman. The expedition was flagged off by Brig Dinesh Shrivastava, Commander 108 Mountain Brigade from Birchgunj Military Station. The expedition team from the Army Component has conducted many such adventure activities in these Islands, and has also scaled many heights in High Altitude Areas in our Mainland.
The Naval Component organised a sailing expedition of a J24 boat from Port Blair to Neil Island and back from 05 to 06 Oct 13. The aim of the sailing expedition was to inculcate a sense of adventure and to give a fillip to yachting as a sport in these islands. The expedition was led by Cdr AK Singh, the Executive Officer of INS Kumbhir and comprised four other officers of the Naval Component as crew. The expedition was flagged off by Brig P K Singh, CSO (Ops) of ANC, in the presence of Cmde Jatinder Singh, Naval Component Commander, besides other Commanding Officers, officers and sailors from the Naval Component. The expedition was received on Neil Island by the Naval Detachment stationed at the Island. After staying overnight at the pristine Island, the expedition departed Neil Island on 06 Oct 13 and arrived Port Blair the same day to a tumultuous reception from the sailing fraternity.
The Air Force Component organised a cross country ‘Run for Fun’, which commenced from Air Force Station Prothrapur and culminated at AF Component, Chakkargaon. Group Captain S Sadashivpeth Officiating AFCC flagged off the run and Rear Admiral Sudhir Pillai, NM Chief of Staff, ANC, flagged in the participants. The chief guest congratulated all personnel of Air Force Component for successful conduct of the event. The spirit, zeal and physical fitness of air warriors were appreciated by the Chief Guest.
The aim of these adventure activities are to promote camaraderie, inculcate a spirit of adventure and enhance espirit-de-corps among all personnel, besides serving as a medium to improve the Civil–Military interface, and sensitise all ranks on the ecological imperatives in the islands .
