Port Blair, Sept 22: A bizarre instance of sheer negligence on part of the A&N Administration has been exposed wherein a student was allocated seat in BE (Civil) course under Lateral Entry Scheme at Konera Lakshmaiah College of Engineering, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, which does not even exist.
The student Mr. K.P. Abdul Sathar S/o Mr. K.P. Aboobacker R/o Mannarghat, South Andaman, along with his father when reached Hyderabad at the office of the Commissioner of Technical Education, Hyderabad, could manage to get an endorsement letter addressed to the Principal, Konera Lakshmaiah College of Engineering only after wandering in the Commissioner’s office for complete three days, that too only after convincing the staff there.
When they reached the destination, they came to know, to their utter dismay and bewilderment, that such a college existed there 5-6 years ago which had since been upgraded to Knowledge Leadership University (KLU)! Obviously there was no principal; the University had a dean. The student and father faced an awkward and ridiculous situation!
The University refused admission to the student in the Administration’s quota saying that it was no more a college. However they offered admission but at a whooping fee structure which the students father could not afford.
It is not known that on what basis the Commissioner of Technical Education, Hyderabad, also endorsed the case by issuing a letter addressed to the Principal, Konera Lakshmaiah College of Engineering! As the admissions to colleges were to be closed by the next day, they managed to take admission in A.C.T College of Engineering & Technology, Nelvoy, Maduranthagam Taluk, Kancheepuram Dist.
Tamil Nadu, PIN No 603107 Ph 044 27 29 3090 which is Directed by Dr. M. Ayyaraju (Former Dy. Director of Education, A&N Admn.). Meanwhile, the father of the candidate has approached the Administration to reimburse the fees of his ward as per the fee structure of A.C.T College of Engineering & Technology.
utter harrassment!!!.it was the father and son who faced such a situation but not the administration so why to bother isnt it?.Living in 21 century still A&N is in 19 century.shame on our admn!!!
