Port Blair, Sept 12: The Great Great Great Grandson of Charles Darwin is presently visiting Andaman and Nicobar Islands on holidays.
Darwin was a British scientist who laid the foundations of the theory of evolution and transformed the way we think about the natural world.
“It’s a rare honour for Andaman and Nicobar Islands to have the Great Great Great grandson of Charles Darwin in these Islands. Who didn’t hear about Darwin’s theory in today’s world? We studied Darwin in our college days,” said a former student of JNRM.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha Oliver Keynes, the great great great grandson of Charles Darwin said that after coming to Andaman he has fallen in love with these beautiful Islands. “I love Andamans. It’s such a beautiful place and people here are so friendly and helpful,” said Keynes.
When asked about how does it feels to be a decedent of such a famous personality Keynes replied “being great great grandson Charles Darwin have very much affect on me. I grew up with the intellectual history of my family, so it definitely shapes how I see the world. But in blood I am so far removed that I do not feel much about it.”
Oliver Keynes who has completed his graduation in Archeology and Anthropology from Bristol University, Bristol, UK is now planning for a Master’s Degree, where in research he may work on the impact of tourism on Tribes of A & N Islands.
Oliver Keynes grandfather Richard Darwin Keynes, is the grandson of Charles Darwin’s daughter.
Oliver Keynes’ sister Laura Keynes made news in International Media recently when she, a direct descendant of Charles Darwin, had become a Catholic apologist.
