Port Blair, September 12: The A & N State Co-operative Bank has organised Awareness Campaign on Financial Literacy in association with NABARD, Port Blair to popularize the benefits of banking services among the rural parts of South Andaman at Prem Nagar area and Astinabad. The programme was inaugurated by Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, Vice Chairman, A & N SCB at Prem Nagar Anganwadi Center and Astinabad area on 12th September, 2013. The other dignitaries included Shri. Ravinder Rao, MD, ANSCB, Shri. K Murugan, Dy. MD, ANSCB, Smt. Shaban Banu, Asst. Manager, NABARD, Port Blair, Shri. Raghubir Singh, AGM, ANSCB and Smt. Elizabeth Mary, Women Development Officer, ANSCB, Shri. Inder Pal Singh, Ward councilor, Ward No.4 and a large gathering of women counterparts.
In the beginning, Smt. Elizabeth Mary welcomed the gathering and extended warm regards to the Chief Guest. Further, she explained the needs of SHG formation and urged all the womens to come forward and avail the benefits of various schemes of the bank.
Shri. K Murugan, Dy. Managing Director in his address welcomed all the delegates and informed the gathering about the purpose of the campaign mainly the need of financial literacy by means of spreading financial literacy especially among the rural masses. The Bank’s campaign will be available for general public for 3 days commencing today at their local area.
Shri. Ravinder Rao, Managing Director, A & N State Coop. Bank in his defining address invited the attention of all SHGs/JLGs to the various facilities offered by the bank and urged them to join hands with the bank by opening of Savings Bank accounts/No frill accounts, etc. He also stressed the loans schemes of the bank
Shri. Kuldeep Rai Sharma in his key note address urged all the women groups, villagers and people present on the occasion to avail the benefits of all the schemes of the bank. He has urged the womens to improve their economic scenario by availing Medical Loan, Marriage Loan and Education Loan. He also waived the interest rate in respect of SHG loan at the rate of 10% p.a instead of 10.50 % p.a.
An interactive session with all the participants was also held in which all the deposit schemes, Loan schemes and the concept of Microinsurance were discussed in detail by Shri. Raghubir Singh & Smt. Shaban Banu.
The programme ended with Vote of Thanks proposed by Smt. Elizabeth Mary, Women Development Officer of the Bank.
