Car Nicobar, Aug 06: The Exhibition Match played between Air force unit of Car Nicobar and visiting the Coast Guard Jawans today, demonstrated some high class footbaling skills to the audience. The Coast Guard contingent reached Car Nicobar on patrolling duty of the remote Islands of Southern Group, and the Officers decided to have a friendly match between the two teams, which they thought would not only strengthen the relationship but also would give some refreshing moments to Jawans.
The team of the Air Force led by Officer S. Jena dominated the first half of the match and succeeded to score 5 goals. The match seemed one sided rather. A local Player and an employee of IAF of Chukchucha village, Basil Thomas, displayed his magical skills of dribbling and was instrumental in making the successful attacks. In the first half the Coast guardians could not score a goal, but soon in the second half, they proved the audience wrong who were expecting a one sided match.
In the second half the Coast Guard team came back strongly under the leadership of Commandant Atul Joshi, and started building nice attacks. The Strikers penetrated the wall of defense of the opposition and scored two goals. They had the control of the ball most of the times with them and made several intimidating attacks, though the attempts could not be converted into goals.
The IAF team was the winner of the match but the audience appreciated the team of Coast Guard, the way they came back into the game. The defense personnel were thankful to both the teams for getting them some refreshing moments in their hectic busy routine.
