Port Blair, Sept 01: One person has been arrested from Tamil Nadu by a police team of PS CCS on 28/08/13 in the 32 Kilogram Ganja smuggling case.
A police team of PS CCS comprising of S.I. N.Zainuddin, PC Ashiq Iqbal and PC Amit Khalko had been deputed to Tamil Nadu to trace out the drug suppliers network that had couriered the huge consignment of Ganja to the islands in March end. With the assistance of Tamil Nadu Police, the team succeeded in arresting D.Sasi Kumar (40), R/o Viluppuram District who was acting as the financial transaction link between the drug peddlers of Andaman and the supply network at Tamil Nadu. After interrogation, he was arrested on 28/08/13 and brought to Port Blair on Transit remand from the Court. He has been handed over to the District Jail authorities.
The Special Investigation Team is looking for further links in the narcotics supply chain.
