Port Blair, Aug 30:National Mission on Food Processing (NMFP), a newly introduced scheme of Ministry of Food Processing Industries, is being implemented by the Mission Director, Directorate of Industries throughout Andaman Nicobar Islands. During the current financial year, a new component has been inducted namely “Modernization of Meat Shops” with an objective of improving overall hygiene in the meat shops by encouraging the firms, who are in the meat business for modernizing their unit. The applicants such as Individuals/private Sector/SHGs/Cooperative societies/ NGOs/Joint Venture/PSUs/Government organization/Agencies engaged in the operations of meat shop would be eligible for financial assistance. The quantum of assistance allowed for eligible applicants includes 75% of the cost of Machinery/Equipment and technical Civil Works (TCW) subject to a maximum of Rs.5.OO lakh. The detailed guidelines about the scheme containing the eligible and ineligible Civil Works and Plants/Equipment/Machinery items along with the application format can be obtained from the Directorate of Industries. The applicant seeking financial assistance are required to submit their application in the prescribed format to the Mission Director, NMFP functioning at the Directorate of Industries, Middle Point, Port Blair on or before 31st March 2014.
