Total 10,000 vehicles are registered under a particular series viz A,B,C,D etc and the present series of H is likely to shift to series “I” very soon which means about 80,000 registered vehicles are now plying of the road. Apart from these vehicles, 20,000 vehicles have been brought for Defense services and 15,000 vehicles under mainland registration are also plying being used by the defense officials as per the information, Kuldeep has mentioned in his letter.

As a result, during the peak period, these vehicles are causing total jam for which the general public has to suffer. Sometimes fatal accidents are occurred due this jam packed roads and small accidents are noticed almost every day.
Hence Kuldeep has earnestly requested the Lt Governor to consider expansion and widening of the traffic junctions and roads on priority basis with speed breakers at appropriate points in the Port Blair City and also other parts of the islands where heavy flow of vehicle movements exist. He has also requested for proper maintenance of the roads and bye roads/lanes as the potholes also causes accidents. Sharma wrote that such consideration of the Administrator will not only avoid road jams, accidents but also add beauty to our cities.
