Port Blair, Aug 14: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President, PCC met the Secretary Education today and briefed him of the strike called by the parents for the welfare of their school going children. Mr. Sharma told that since the demands of the parents for well equipped Science Laboratory, regular teachers for physics, Biology and Chemistry, increase of class rooms in GSS Havelock, GMS Krishnanagar and Kalapatthar, GPS Havelock, shortage of teachers in all the schools, appointment of Vice Principal against the existing vacancy, RCC fencing to all schools under GSSS Havelock, separate toilet blocks for girl and boys students, kitchen shed for preparing midday meal, and upgrading of Hindi medium and English medium secondary schools to Senior Secondary Schools etc. are all genuine demands, these may be immediately fulfilled for the overall development of the students community of Havelock.
Mr. Sharma has also requested the Secretary Education to give proper direction for providing proper infrastructure and positioning of required number of teaching staff to all the schools of Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
The Secretary Education reportedly gave a patient hearing and assured for immediate settlement of the demands of the parents of the Havelock at the earliest and also to take care of the interests of the student community of these Islands.
