Port Blair, Aug 8: Bharatiya Janta Party, Yuva Morcha and Mahila Morcha organized a joint press conference at BJP Bhavan today. The leaders of the party along with the scribes first observed a two minute silence for the five Jawans who recently gave away their lives for the country at LOC. Mr. Subrato Biswas, President, BJYM informed the press about the Yuva Mitra Abhiyan which is basically an enrollment programme for BJP Yuva Morcha which is going on since 1st of July 2013 under the leadership of Mr. Anurag Thakur, National President, Yuva Morcha.
The leaders of the Yuva Morcha also raised their demands for the subsidized fuel in Andaman and Nicobar Islands so that airfare for Andaman sector could be subsidized and reduced. They also raised the issue of providing LTC for traveling to the Islands to Railway, Industrial Institutions and IT sectors to boost up tourism. They also demanded to regularize the DRM’s working under the department and filling up of vacant posts under all the departments.
The Yuva morcha also demanded to announce the results of the Group C posts which are delayed for more than one year and because of which 250 vacancies still existing in the secretariat.
Mrs. Saraswati Narayana, National Executive Member, BJMM informed the media that under the present UPA Govt. the women from all sections of the society are facing hardships, crimes against women are increasing nationwide. They also added that recently in the last few years it was seen that many cases of rapes, gang rapes, acid attacks were reported and the UPA Govt. is unable to control the menace of crime against women. She also informed the media about the national conference of Mahila Morcha at Delhi in which women from each Island of Andaman and Nicobar Islands also participated.
The Mahila Morcha also added that there is only one alternative to the current UPA govt. and that is the BJP led NDA Govt. They further added that in the coming elections the women have to play a major role and the Mahila Morcha will also keep on struggling for matters pertaining to rights of women such as the reservation in different sector for women etc.
Mrs. Saraswati Narayana, National Executive Member, Mahila Morcha, BJMM concluded the conference by assuring that the Mahila Morcha will play a major role and try hard to bring NDA Govt. back into power in the coming Lok Sabha elections.
