Port Blair, Aug 7: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President, PCC along with a delegation of PRI members and youths met the Director, youth Affairs, sports, arts and Culture Mr. Lucas Robert. During the discussion with the Director, Mr. Sharma stated that during his visit to the villages of South Andaman, the youths of Stewardgunj have informed him that due to non availability of any play ground the youth folk are facing acute difficulty for practicing for various sports and spend their spare time on gossiping or loitering and approached him to submit their demand of a play ground to Mr. Lucas Robert, while the youths of Wimberligunj stated that they have a very good ground which can be converted as stadium and in case a stadium is constructed there, the youth will be much more motivated towards various sports and many sports events can also be arranged there.
Accordingly Mr. Sharma requested the Director to consider a play ground at Stewardgunj and a stadium at Wimberligunj as a welfare measure for the overall development of the youths of the areas. The Director gave a patient hearing and assured to look into the matter.
