Port Blair, Jul 30: Some unemployed teachers after going through the advertisement published in the Daily Telegram dated 29th July, 2013 for the posts of SSCT/BRP/CRP for which age limit has been mentioned as 30 years, met the Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President, PCC and explained him their problem.
The waiting teachers explained him that most of them have crossed the prescribed age limit and have become frustrated since their wish to serve the Islands as a teacher seems impossible because the Education Department has restricted the age limit for appointment under Sarava Shiksha Abhiyan.
Mr. Sharma after hearing their problems wrote a letter of request to the Secretary and Director of Education, Andaman and Nicobar Administration and stated that as per the norms of Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan, the services of the teachers engaged are not regular in nature and hence the prescribed age limit of 30 years may be changed from 30 years to 38 years so that many aspirants, who are experienced and still waiting for a job may also apply for the posts and the Department will also have a wide range of candidates for selection of suitable teachers for the welfare of the students of these Islands.
