Port Blair, July 21: A condolence meeting to condole the death of veteran trade union leader and CPI(M) Parliamentarian Com. Samar Mukherjee was held at Port Blair today (21.07.2013). Com Samar Mukherjee died at Kolkatta on 18.07.2013. He was 101 years. Speaking on the occasion Mr. B. Chandrachoodan, General Secretary, CITU, A & N State Committee recalled the great contribution made by Com. Samar Mukherjee for the working class movement in the country. As All India General Secretary of the CITU, for a long period, Samar Mukherjee had led a number of movements of working class in the country.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. K.G. Das, Secretary, CPI(M) A&N State Organizing Committee briefly narrated the exemplary life of Com. Samar Mukherjee who as a freedom fighter, Parliamentarian, trade union leader, honest and sincere leader was an inspiration for lakhs of people cutting across party line.
D. Laxman Rao, P. Banerjee and T.S. Sreekumar also addressed the meeting and recalled the help and guidance provided by him for the government employees and workers in these islands in his capacity as a Member of Parliament. A large number of employees and workers attended the condolence meeting.
