Port Blair, July 12: The Lt Governor, Lt Gen (Retd) A K Singh, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM visited G B Pant Hospital and inspected the health care facilities extended to the patients in the hospital. He took a round of the hospital and interacted with the in-patients as well as out-patients, and inquired about the health care facilities provided to them by the hospital. The Lt Governor also inspected the hospital kitchen. He directed the Authorities to prepare a plan for automation of the kitchen services so as to deliver more effective services to the patients. He further directed the Authorities to get a Radiologist in the hospital immediately. He desired that the Hospital should become an institution worthy of emulation and provide best health care facilities to the people of Andaman and Nicobar islands.
Earlier, the Lt Governor paid an unannounced visit to Govt. Girls Senior Secondary School and met the Principal and teachers of the school. He took a round of the school and also visited the Girls hostel. He directed that hostel amenities for the inmates be improved and the new block’s construction expedited.
The Lt Governor intends to see most facilities first hand and meet a cross section of the people to understand the issues of concern.
The Chief Secretary, Shri Anand Prakash and senior officers of the Administration were also present.
OUR LG VISITED OUR HOSPITAL AND WATCHED THE LACKING FACILITIES BUT HAD NOT WATCHED THE MAJOR PROBLEM OR LACKING FACILITY IN OUR HOSPITAL ie THE NURSES STRENGTH WHICH IS MUCH MORE LESS THAN 2 B AVAILABLE. ACC TO HEALTH SYSTEM OF INDIA THER MUST B ATLEAST ONE NURSE FOR 5 PATIENTS BUT HERE ONLY 1 NURSE MANAGES THE WHOLE UNIT CONSISTING OF 45 BED STRENGTH.WHY THERE IS SO MUCH LACKING OF NURSES.WHO IS RESPONSIBLE FOR IT.OUR GOVT,OUR HEALTH DEPARTRMENT OR OUR LG. THERE ARE SO MANY NURSES UNEMPLOYED SITTING WITHOUT ANY JOB .SO WHY NOT THEY ENGAGE MORE NURSES SO THAT THE PATIENTS CAN GET POSSIBLE CARE.V HAD HEARD THAT THE HEALTH MINISTER HAD GRANTED 300 VACCANCIES OF STAFF NURSE. BUT WERE R THOSE VACCANCIES.SO IT IS OUR GREAT REQUEST TO OUR NEW LG TO PROVIDE EMPLOYMENT TO UNEMPLOYED NURSES AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE AS OUR EX LG VAKKOM SAHEB WAS.
