Port Blair, July 12: The Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Mr. Anand Prakash today inaugurated the Monsoon Festival-2013 at a function at Govt. Girls Senior Secondary School on 12.07.2013.
Andaman and Nicobar Islands, which gets nearly 3000 mm of rainfall every year, had last year planned Monsoon Festival to promote this remote territory as Monsoon destination. The first Monsoon Festival was organized in 2012, which had got huge response from Islanders and tourists.
Apart from this, exploratory, safe water sports activities including sail boat display for the general public near the Marina Park are also being organised, this year. The police band will perform for one hour for the entertainment of the general public between 4.30 pm to 5.30 pm.
Transport Department, Supply Department, Electoral Office and the District Office have arranged issuance of Driving Learners’ License, Electoral Photo Identity Card (EPIC), Islander Card etc, as well. The GOI has been working on various welfare schemes, of late, which require the people to have bank accounts, various nationalised banks has set up their counters, depicting their new schemes, during the fest.
