I am pleased to know that the “World Population Day” is being observed on 11th July 2013 with the theme “Chhota Parivar – Sukhi Parivar”. The growing population and its socio-economic implications is a matter of concern for us. India, with 1.24 billion people is the second most populated country in the world with only 2.4 percent of the total surface area of the earth. Thus there is an immediate and urgent need to stabilize the population growth.
I, therefore, appeal to all Islanders including PRIs, social organisations, NGOs and media to spread the message: “Chhota Parivar – Sukhi Parivar”
