Port Blair, Jul 3: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President, PCC has demanded MRI facilities at GB Pant Hospital. In his letter addressed to the Principal Secretary Health, Mr. Sharma has written that Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) has become a necessity for getting detailed images of almost all parts of body which helps the physician to diagnose the decease properly and undertake treatment accordingly.
He added that for getting this facility the Islanders have to go to mainland by spending lot of money and time whereas some of them remain in their home/local hospitals helplessly due to poverty or other reasons and cannot have this facility and cry over their ill fate.
Hence Mr. Sharma has requested the Pr. Secretary Health to consider MRI facility at GB Pant hospital as a welfare measure and has stated that such consideration will not only be beneficial to the people of
these islands also will provide employment opportunities.
