Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept. 29: The Electricity Department has announced scheduled power interruptions on October 1 and October 3, 2026, to facilitate essential maintenance and preventive works on transmission and distribution lines.
According to the department, power supply will remain suspended on October 1, 2026 (Thursday), from 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM to facilitate essential maintenance work aimed at ensuring the safety, reliability and uninterrupted operation of the power transmission network.
On October 1, the Tie Lines Panther-I and Panther-II will be isolated. The department stated that power transmission will be maintained through alternate tie lines. However, in the event of any unforeseen fault or unavoidable circumstances, power supply may be affected in Sri Vijaya Puram town and the South Andaman area.
In addition, another scheduled power interruption has been announced for October 3, 2026 (Saturday), from 7:30 AM to 1:00 PM for routine preventive maintenance of the transmission system.
The areas likely to be affected on October 3 include the stretch from Calicut from GSS to Bird Line Junction up to Macca Pahad, Imli Ped, New Bimblitan and Teylorabad.
The Electricity Department has stated that the timings mentioned are tentative. If the scheduled maintenance work is completed before the stipulated time, the feeders will be recharged accordingly and power supply will be restored earlier.
