Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 27: A delegation of the INTUC Federation called on the Deputy Conservator of Forest, Mill Division, Chatham, and submitted a detailed charter of demands concerning the long-pending issues faced by workers of the Chatham Saw Mill.
The delegation consisted of Mr. Swaminath Jaiswal Ji, National President, INTUC (F), Dr. Rajesh Garhia, Senior National Vice President, INTUC (F), Mr. TSG Bhasker, National Vice President, INTUC (F); Mr. O. Bashir, National Secretary, INTUC (F), Mr. K.P. Usman, State President, INTUC (F); Mr. Mohd. Rafi, General Secretary, INTUC; Mr. Senthil Kumar, INTUC (F) Leader; Mr. Y. Joga Rao, Councillor, Ward No. 14; Mr. Anand Rao, INTUC (F) leader, Mr. Balakrishna, Vice President, Forest Labour Union; Mr. P. Kannan, General Secretary, Forest Labour Union; Mr. Sidappa Reddy (Kumar), Secretary, Works Committee; Mr. Eswar Rao, Congress Leader, along with other Works Committee Member
The delegation raised several important demands, including amendment of Recruitment Rules (RR), appointment of an AMM, granting 12 days of casual leave to all eligible employees, installation of a 60-inch band saw machine, appointment of a doctor and provision of ambulance facilities at the mill, adequate safety equipment for workers, regular health camps, repair and maintenance of workers quarters, and various other long-standing issues.
Following the meeting, the delegation chaired a meeting with members of the Forest Labour Union and workers of Chatham Saw Mill. The workers placed their grievances and concerns before the INTUC Federation leadership.
The delegation assured that the unresolved issues would be taken up with the concerned Environment Ministry for early resolution.
