Hut Bay, Sept. 8: Fire Station Hut Bay has strengthened its firefighting preparedness with the installation of new fire hydrant facilities at Harbender Bay, OngiTikery and Foam Tikery in Hut Bay.
The initiative was taken after Fire Station Hut Bay approached the concerned authorities seeking adequate firefighting water facilities in the area, particularly in view of the large number of residential tsunami shelters located along the approximately 11-km stretch covering OngiTikery, Foam Tikery, Harbender Bay and Janta Tikery. Around 2,500 residents are estimated to be living in these shelters and surrounding areas.
The newly installed hydrants were inspected by personnel of Fire Station Hut Bay on Tuesday and all three hydrants were found to be functioning properly.
The facility is expected to significantly improve the Fire Station’s emergency response capability and firefighting preparedness, while helping protect lives and property in the event of a fire emergency.
As per details, the Fire Station team Hut Bay expressed gratitude to Zilla Parishad Member Vasudevan Nair, Executive Engineer, APWD, Vandana Chakraborty, and Junior Engineer, APWD, Adarsh Kumar, for their cooperation and support in facilitating the initiative.
The Fire Station team also acknowledged the guidance and moral support extended by its supervising officer, Inspector (SWDP) Sushil Kullu, stating that his encouragement had been an important source of motivation for the initiative.
