Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 08: The Chairman of the Campaign Committee of ANTCC, Mr. TSG Bhasker, has urged the Andaman & Nicobar Administration to introduce the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) course at Mahatma Gandhi Government College (MGGC), Mayabunder, for the benefit of students from North & Middle Andaman District.
In a letter addressed to the Chief Secretary, Mr. Bhasker pointed out that the BBA course is presently available in two colleges in South Andaman District, while MGGC Mayabunder is the only degree college serving the entire North & Middle Andaman District.
He stated that students from North & Middle Andaman are currently deprived of the opportunity to pursue a BBA course in their own district and may have to travel to South Andaman, creating additional financial and logistical difficulties for students and their families.
Highlighting the importance of the course, Bhasker said that business and tourism are among the major pillars of the Islands economy and important sources of employment. Introducing BBA at MGGC Mayabunder would equip local students with professional skills and improve their employment and entrepreneurial opportunities within the Islands.
He further stated that there is a growing demand among students of North & Middle Andaman for the BBA course, particularly as the course is already being successfully run in South Andaman District.
“Students of North & Middle Andaman should not be forced to travel to South Andaman simply because a course is not available in their district. Educational opportunities must be accessible to students across all parts of the Islands,” Mr. Bhasker said.
He appealed to the Chief Secretary to positively consider the introduction of the BBA course at MGGC Mayabunder at the earliest, in the larger interest of students and the educational development of North & Middle Andaman District.
