Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 08: The Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services (AH&VS) organised a Health-cum-Infertility Camp at Modern Village and Azad Nagar as part of its ongoing efforts to improve the reproductive health of bovines and support dairy farmers through timely diagnosis and technical guidance.
A total of 33 cows were covered during the camp. Two cases of anoestrus were detected, while no case of infertility was reported. Necessary advice and guidance were provided to the livestock owners for the management of the identified cases.
During the programme, the farmers were advised on scientific feeding and management of animals, timely deworming and vaccination for better animal health and productivity. They were also made aware of important schemes and services such as the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) and Artificial Insemination, including Sex Sorted Semen AI, which can help improve conception rates and enhance dairy productivity.
The camp witnessed active participation from the local farmers, who interacted with the veterinary team and sought guidance on livestock management. The Department of AH&VS remains committed to organising regular health and infertility camps across the Islands to strengthen livestock healthcare services and promote scientific dairy farming, a press release from Dept. of AH&VS said.
