Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 24: The Department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services (AH&VS) conducted a Veterinary Infertility Camp on 31st August 2026 at Hashmatabad and Mamyo villages under Wandoor Panchayat in collaboration with ICAR–Central Island Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-CIARI).
A total of 14 breedable animals were examined during the camp, of which six animals were identified with reproductive problems and provided treatment. The cases comprised three repeat breeders, one case of cervicitis and two cases of postpartum anoestrus. The animal affected with cervicitis was advised an appropriate course of antibiotic therapy along with supportive anti-inflammatory and analgesic treatment.
Albendazole for deworming and mineral mixture were also provided to the farmers. The livestock owners were advised on scientific feeding, reproductive management and the importance of timely treatment of infertile animals for better conception rates and productivity.
The camp formed part of the Department’s ongoing efforts to address infertility issues in bovines and support dairy farmers through timely diagnosis and treatment. The Department of AH&VS remains committed to organising regular infertility camps in collaboration with research institutions for the benefit of livestock farmers in the Islands, a press release from Dept. of AH&VS said.
