Port Blair, Jun 27: The impact of rain can be felt in the whole country along with Andaman and Nicobar Islands where one retaining wall at Japan Road, Dairy Farm today fell on a RCC house damaging the house to a little extent and putting house above the retaining wall in great danger.
According to the sources the retaining wall was about seven years old and suddenly fell yesterday evening at about 4:45 Pm on the house of Mr. A.R Natrajan, Govt. Contractor putting in danger the building of Mr. K. Mari Muthu, Driver, Directorate and Animal Husbandry and vet nary.
Both the above said buildings are in danger and a new retaining wall has to be constructed soon to save the buildings from drifting, expert said.
Meanwhile it was informed by the locals that the Assistant Engineer, PBMC had visited the place and assured to sanction fund for the construction of the new retaining wall meanwhile the councilor of the area took charge of the situation and assured the residents that he will clean up the place and then put bitumen drums to support the soil so that it doesn’t drift causing another landslide as an temporary arrangement to save the houses.
