Sri Vijaya Puram, Sept 02: The State Control Room, based on the latest weather forecast issued by IMD Kolkata and IMD Shadipur, Sri Vijaya Puram, has issued weather, fisherman, farmer and port warnings for the Andaman & Nicobar Islands for the coming days.
According to the forecast, thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty winds reaching 30–40 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands from September 3 to 8, 2026.
The weather system is likely to bring intermittent thunderstorm activity over the islands, and residents have been advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions during periods of adverse weather.
The fishermen warning for the Andaman & Nicobar coast indicates no squally weather warning at present. However, a Swell Surge Alert has been issued for the coast of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Swell waves with a period of 16–17 seconds and heights of around 2.0–2.2 metres are forecast from 5:30 PM on September 3 to 11:30 PM on September 3, 2026.
In view of the possibility of surging waves, boats have been advised to ply with utmost vigilance, while recreational activities along the coast should be undertaken with due care.
The farmer warning indicates that thunderstorms with lightning accompanied by gusty winds of 30–40 kmph are likely to occur at one or two places over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands during the coming days.
Farmers and the general public have been advised to remain cautious and take appropriate safety measures during thunderstorms and gusty wind conditions.
The Port Warning indicates little change in weather conditions during the subsequent two days.
