
Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 30: The Department of Fisheries, A&N Administration with the technical support of ACOSTI-NIOT, Dollygunj under Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) scheme organized a two-day training programme on ‘Mariculture activities for livelihood security’ with special emphasis to Open Sea Cage culture at the Fish Landing Centre (FLC), Panighat and North-Bay cage culture area on 28th and 29th August, 2026.
The training programme was conducted with the technical support and guidance of Dr. Aron Santhosh Kumar Y, Project Scientist-I, ACOSTI-NIOT and Mr. Raj Kiran Lakra, Project Scientist-I, ACOSTI-NIOT along with other representatives of the Department of Fisheries and Sagar Mitras. The participants were provided with both theoretical and practical guidance on various aspects of agriculture, with particular emphasis on cage culture practices. The programme also highlighted the importance of adopting proper cage management techniques for maintaining the health and growth of cultured species and ensuring efficient utilisation of mariculture infrastructure.
On successful completion of the programme, training certificates and tools were distributed to all 20 participants to encourage them to apply the knowledge and skills gained during the training.
