Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 27: The State Control Room, based on the latest weather forecast issued by IMD Kolkata and IMD Shadipur, Sri Vijaya Puram, has issued weather, fisherman, farmer and port warnings for the Andaman & Nicobar Islands for the coming days.
According to the weather warning, thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty winds reaching 50–60 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands on August 28, 2026.
From August 29 to September 2, thunderstorms and lightning accompanied by gusty winds reaching 40–50 kmph are also likely to occur at one or two places over the islands.
Fishermen Advised Not to Venture into Sea
The State Control Room has issued a fishermen warning for the Andaman & Nicobar coast, stating that squally weather with wind speeds of 35–45 kmph, occasionally gusting up to 55 kmph, is likely to prevail along and off the Andaman & Nicobar coasts from August 28 to August 31, 2026.
Fishermen have been advised not to venture into the sea along and off the Andaman & Nicobar coasts during the warned period.
A Swell Surge Alert has also been issued for the coast. Swell waves with a period of 14–19 seconds and wave heights of around 1.5–2.0 metres are forecast from 2030 hours on August 28 to 2330 hours on August 28, 2026.
There is a possibility of surging waves, and boats have been advised to ply with utmost vigilance. Recreational activities along the coast have also been advised to be undertaken with due care.
Farmer Warning
The farmer warning indicates that thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 50–60 kmph are likely to occur at one or two places over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands on August 28 and August 30.
Thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds of 40–50 kmph are also likely at one or two places on August 29 and August 31.
The public, fishermen and farmers have been advised to remain alert and take necessary precautions in view of the anticipated weather and sea conditions.
The Port Warning indicates little change in the weather conditions during the subsequent two days.
