
Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug 25: The District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DDCMC) / DISHA meeting for South Andaman District was convened in the Conference Hall of the Disaster Management, South Andaman under the Chairmanship of the Member of Parliament, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Mr. Bishnu Pada Ray.
The meeting was attended by Ms. Purva Garg, Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, Chairperson, SVPMC, South Andaman, all Head of the Departments and representatives of all Panchayati Raj Institutions designated as member of DISHA Committee, South Andaman.
The meeting sought to strengthen the monitoring of developmental initiatives within the constitutional framework governing the respective roles of the Central Government, the UT Administration and local bodies. The Hon’ble Member of Parliament emphasized the importance of collaborative governance and the timely implementation of government schemes to address the developmental priorities of South Andaman. The meeting also included a comprehensive review of 66 schemes across 18 departments, during which the Hon’ble Member of Parliament provided valuable inputs and suggestions aimed at improving administrative efficiency, strengthening monitoring mechanisms and ensuring the effective and timely delivery of benefits to the public.
The Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman, further directed all concerned departments to submit, within one week, a detailed report outlining the observations made by the Member of Parliament and the action taken thereon. It was further directed that the next review meeting of the DISHA Committee be convened during the last week of September 2026, wherein the compliance status and progress made on the directions issued during the present meeting would be reviewed.
The meeting concluded with clear instructions for regular monitoring and follow-up to ensure accelerated development and improved service delivery across the district.
