Sri Vijaya Puram, Aug. 23: A fire broke out at the premises of a cement and construction materials shop located just before the road leading to the Haddo Circuit House early Sunday morning, destroying stored materials and a section made of wood and tin. As per eye witnesses the fire was brought under control by the Fire Service personnel, who reached the spot promptly after receiving the information, preventing the flames from spreading to nearby shops.
According to information, the fire broke out at around 4:20 AM. Soon after the alert was received, a Fire Service vehicle reached the location and personnel immediately began firefighting operations. The affected portion of the shop contained wooden structures and other materials, causing the fire to spread rapidly and engulf the entire section within a short time.
The flames were reportedly intense and rose high, causing concern among people in the surrounding area. However, the timely intervention of the Fire Service personnel helped contain the fire before it could spread further. Since several small shops and establishments dealing with construction materials are located in the vicinity, there was a significant risk of the fire spreading to adjoining premises.
The fire caused extensive damage to materials stored in the shop’s store area, including tin sheets and other items. No casualties have been reported in the incident. As per sources, the fire is believed to have been caused by a short circuit. The estimated loss of property is reported to be around Rs. 50 lakh. However an official confirmation is still awaited.
