
Mayabunder , August 11: In a significant development for the local community, Mr. Manojit Halder, Pradhan of Gram Panchayat Harinagar, met with Mr. Sushant Padha, IAS, Deputy Commissioner of North & Middle Andaman District yesterday.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner officially handed over the land allotment order for the construction of a Multipurpose Building (Market) at Harinagar-2. The Gram Panchayat had been actively pursuing the matter since 2023, following up consistently with the administration to secure the public utility space. Despite regular efforts, the project faced procedural delays and bottlenecks over the years.
The matter finally gained momentum after the Pradhan brought the issue to the personal attention of the current Deputy Commissioner during a recent meeting. Taking prompt cognizance of the community’s requirement, the Deputy Commissioner personally intervened to resolve the pending technicalities, culminating in the formal issuance of Order No. 259.According to the official order, a piece of government land bearing Survey No. 542/1/2, measuring 0.0310 Hectares in Harinagar village (Ward No. 2), has been officially set apart for the construction of the Multipurpose Building.
The land will be maintained by the Pradhan, Gram Panchayat, Harinagar, under the strict condition that it must be utilized for this specific public purpose within one year from the date of issue.On behalf of the general public and the residents of Harinagar, Mr. Manojit Halder expressed his deepest gratitude to Deputy Commissioner Mr. Sushant Padha for his swift action, public-centric approach, and final resolution of this long-standing demand.
