Port Blair, Feb 26: In an dramatic turn of event the accused, who had attacked a cop on 22nd February 2012 and suffered two bullet injuries in return, managed to escaped from a Government Hospital of Andaman on Saturday night.
However the accused was nabbed again by police this morning.
Sheikh Murtaza, a resident of South Point area of Port Blair city was brought to G B Pant Hospital with two bullet injuries on 22nd February 2012.
Murtaza had suffered first bullet injuries on his neck and while the second bullets reportedly brushed his neck when he along with four other members of his family had attacked a Head Constable of Andaman and Nicobar Police, who had come to arrest him.
The accused was kept in Male Surgical Ward Number I, of G B Pant hospital of Port Blair city under police guard since 22nd February but still he managed to trick the police guards and escaped from the Hospital on Saturday night.
“At around 3.00 am Murtaza asked for a wheel chair to go the restroom. When one of the constables went downstairs to get a Wheelchair Murtaza tricked the second constable and escaped from the hospital,” a senior officer told ‘Andaman Sheekha’ on the condition of anonymity.
Soon Police teams were deployed to nab the accused and at around 10.30 am Murtaza was nabbed by a Police team.
“He was hiding in busses behind in house at South Point area of Port Blair city. We are trying to send him to Judicial Remand,” he added.
At present other four members of Murtaza’s family are already in Judicial Remand for attacking a cop on duty.
