Port Blair, Jun 23: Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma, President, PCC has requested the Lt. Governor to consider additional convoy at the times when acute problem are being faced by the passengers travelling by bus. In his letter Mr. Sharma has stated that while he was on tour to North and Middle Andaman, this was brought to his knowledge by the people of the areas that that many times, the passengers travelling by State and private buses from Diglipur, Billiground, Rangat and Mayabunder for Port Blair are stranded at Baratang due to sudden break down of the buses by which they travel. Such break down needs much time for the faults to get rectified and many times the passengers miss the last convoy and become helpless to find a suitable place for the night stay.
The elderly person, sick person, females and children become restless with such unpredicted events. Acute problem arises to those passengers who have to proceed to mainland by Air in the morning.
Mr. Sharma further requested the Lt Governor to consider enforcing his special powers to allow one additional convoy for such faulty buses on the day of occurrence of the mishap, and stated that his consideration for the welfare of the general public will be very much beneficial to them.
