Sri Vijaya Puram, July 26: On the recommendation of Women Safety Division, Ministry of Home Affairs, the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Police Training Institute (NSCBPTI), Sri Vijaya Puram, organized a One-Day State-Level Conference on Anti Human Trafficking on 23rd July 2026.
The conference witnessed enthusiastic participation from officers and officials representing various departments of the A&N Administration and Central Police Organizations, including the CISF, Department of Labour Welfare, Department of Industries, Department of Social Welfare, Directorate of Prosecution, faculty members and students of Andaman Law College, and officers of different ranks from the Andaman & Nicobar Police. A total of 102 participants attended the programme, comprising 55 participants in offline mode and 47 participants through virtual mode.
The conference was inaugurated by Mrs. Geeta Rani Verma, IPS, Inspector General of Police (Training), A&N Police, in the august presence of Mr. Uma Shankar, DANIPS, Principal, NSCBPTI.
The technical sessions were conducted by distinguished faculty members from Rashtriya Raksha University, Gandhinagar, Gujarat, namely Dr. Dimple Rawal, Associate Professor of Law; Dr. Jasbir Kaur Thandani, Assistant Professor of Law; Dr. Shahanshah Gulpham, Assistant Professor (Criminology); and Inspector Jyoti Chhatwal, SHO, Anti Human Trafficking Police Station.
The experts delivered insightful sessions covering the role of the police and other stakeholders in combating human trafficking, provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita relating to trafficking offences, various forms of exploitation including commercial sexual exploitation, forced labour, organ trafficking and forced marriage, and the vital role of NGOs and civil society organizations in prevention, rescue and rehabilitation efforts.
The conference also featured discussions on important case studies, followed by an interactive question-and-answer session, enabling participants to exchange views and clarify practical issues relating to anti-human trafficking investigations and victim protection.
The programme concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by the Inspector (Administration), NSCBPTI. Participants expressed their appreciation for the informative and practical sessions through feedback received during the valedictory session.
The conference reinforced the commitment of the Andaman & Nicobar Police and NSCBPTI towards strengthening inter-departmental coordination and enhancing the capacity of stakeholders in effectively combating human trafficking.
