Sri Vijaya Puram, July 23: The District Administration, South Andaman, as part of its sustained drive to safeguard Government land and ensure its utilization for intended public purposes, has intensified action against unauthorized encroachments across the District. The Administration has been maintaining strict vigilance through continuous monitoring and enforcement measures to prevent illegal occupation of Government land and to restore such land for public welfare.
A major eviction drive was conducted at Chidiyatapu village. During the operation, unauthorized encroachments in the form of fencing erected over Government Revenue land earmarked for beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) were removed.
As a result of the eviction drive, an area of approximately 5,425 square metres of Government Revenue land was successfully reclaimed and restored to Government possession. Following the removal of the encroachments, the Revenue authorities carried out boundary demarcation by erecting boundary pillars and clearly marking the reclaimed land on the ground to safeguard it against future encroachments.
Members of the public are advised to refrain from encroaching upon Government land or undertaking any unauthorized construction thereon. The Administration has made it clear that any such violations will invite strict legal action in accordance with the provisions of the relevant laws and regulations.
To encourage public participation in safeguarding Government property, citizens are requested to promptly report instances of encroachment or unauthorized construction.
