Sri Vijaya Puram July 22: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds reaching 30–40 kmph and lightning at one or two places over the Andaman & Nicobar Islands during the next few days.
According to the weather bulletin issued by the State Control Room, such weather conditions are likely to prevail from July 23 to July 28, 2026.
A Swell Surge Alert has also been issued for the coast of the Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Swell waves with a period of 15.0–19.0 seconds and a height of 1.6–2.2 metres are forecast to continue till 11.30 pm on July 23, 2026.
Fishermen, boat operators and members of the public visiting coastal areas have been advised to exercise utmost caution due to the possibility of surging waves and rough sea conditions.
The IMD has also advised farmers to remain alert, as thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and gusty winds may affect agricultural activities during the forecast period.
Meanwhile, the Port Warning indicates little change in weather conditions over the subsequent two days. Authorities have urged residents to stay updated with official weather advisories and take necessary precautions during adverse weather conditions.
